Meet Pastor Robbie
Pastor Robbie was born and raised in Lowell, MI in 1984, which is just outside of Grand Rapids.
Robbie gets most excited about hanging out with students, especially at local coffee shops. She also loves riding her bike, backpacking, playing guitar, reading, and writing. Volunteering is a part of her life, as she loves volunteering in ministries ranging from homeless ministries to crisis pregnancy ministries.
Though Robbie has never been there, she has a great burden for the people of Africa, and has been actively involved in "Invisible Children" initiatives. Her compassion for others extends into girls and boys trapped in sex trafficking as well, and she is a huge supporter of "International Justice Mission". She believes that the justice, peace, and love of Christ should extend to all youth everywhere, and not just those found within her specific youth ministry.
Robbie became a Christian as a young child, and sees her relationship with Christ as a continual process. She has done multiple ministries throughout the church, starting with her work in Children's ministry when she was 14. Robbie then became a devoted volunteer youth worker in both Jr. High and Sr. High ministries. College ministries have also entered into her credentials as she taught an entry level theology class for Freshmen at Olivet Nazarene University during the '07-'08 school year. She graduated in '07 with a bachelor's degree in youth ministry from Olivet, and will graduate in '09 with a master's degree in youth ministry from Olivet as well.
Pastor Robbie describes her life and ministry this way: "Jesus reached out to everyone, even lepers who were highly contagious. If he did that, what should I be doing to be like him? I try to view each person the way Jesus does, where there are no untouchables. Everyone from the student no one likes to the most popular kid in school are people whom Jesus is madly in love with, thus I try to be willing to go anywhere, do anything, and spend time with anyone, in order to be His body to the world."
